Railway Rambler

This is THE ticket for a person who wants to travel by train to Ongar and then make their own way back to Epping via local footpaths. The Essex Way passes through Ongar and is an ideal path to follow back to Epping Station.

It is approximately 8 miles from Ongar back to Epping via the Essex Way.

Getting to us

Travel on the 0940 heritage bus (route 339) from Epping Underground station is included. The bus stops right outside the station entrance. If you are coming from London or the West, there is no better way to travel than to take the London Underground on the Central Line to Epping. Epping is in zone 6 and just 26 minutes from Stratford!

Dogs, Bicycles and Pushchairs

Well behaved dogs are welcome on our train and bus services, and our trains have ample room for pushchairs and bicycles. Folded pushchairs can be accommodated on the heritage bus service, but we regret that bicycles can not.
