You can even give a loved one the chance to take to the footplate or cab of one of our mainline steam or diesel engines, tackling the gradients and handling the train under our experienced tutors, or to operate one of our signalboxes on an operational day, with our Driver or Signalbox Experience days.
We have a wide selection of items available, all of which we have been careful to ensure that we offer quality gifts which appeal to the wider public with items suitable for ALL interests, ages and budgets, as well the more typical railway-themed items.
Forefront in our minds is the need to support local businesses and the economy. We therefore source, wherever practicable, from local suppliers including from Ongar itself; here you can find locally produced ice cream, which is truly delicious, in the Buffer Stop Café and North Weald gift shop.
Cold drinks, ice cream, chocolates and snacks are always available from the Café, providing the traveller with refreshment when they reach the "end of the line".
We have exclusive gifts and mementoes to suit all ages and tastes, including pens, badges, fridge magnets, bookmarks, EOR shed plate and fleet cups and mugs, key-rings, books, notebooks, toys and much more.
Our North Weald shop stocks possibly the largest selection of London area and further afield Exclusive Firest Editions (EFE) bus models in the country!
We also stock a large range of Thomas the Tank Engine, Peppa Pig, PAW Patrol, and other popular children's character merchandise for the young and young at heart.

You can pick up a copy of the Epping Ongar Railway Volunteer Society Ten Year Booklet celebrating our opening in 2012, a booklet of walks in the local area (produced in conjunction with local societies) and the official EOR DVD, which looks behind the scenes at the restoration and operation of Essex's longest heritage railway
We are one of the few stockists of the London Railway Record magazine and have not only the current editions but also back numbers.
Recently published is "Isabel Finds A Home". Written by Robert Gillman - one of our own volunteers! - this book tells the story of our little Hawthorne Leslie saddle tank loco, and how she came to reside with us on the EOR. With beautiful illustrations by Alan Ward, and at just £6.99, this hardback book is suitable for children of all ages. Signed copies are available in our shops now, or through the Railway Cat Creations own website.
