Perched above our most complex junction, the North Weald Signal Box is the nerve center of our operation. Under the expert guidance of one of our trained signalling supervisors, you’ll master the skill of heritage railway signal operations :
- Take the Levers: Operate the genuine interlocked lever frame, the traditional hub of signal box operations.
- Master the Technology: Learn the intricacies of the electronic Key Token System and use it to communicate with other signal cabins.
- Manage the Mainline: Direct train movements, control points, and ensure the safe passage of traffic east and west.
- No previous experience necessary! You'll be working closely with an expert signaller who will guide you through the day. (Please note that you will be walking up and down stairs, and over our footbridge throughout the day so this is only suitable for people who are healthy and sufficiently mobile).
