London Transport Sentinel Locomotive DL82

Former London Transport Sentinel diesel locomotive DL82

DL82 is one of three locomotives, with Rolls Royce engines, that were acquired by London Transport in 1971 and which were once used at an open cast iron ore mine at Corby in Northamptonshire. They worked for London Transport at Neasden and Lillie Bridge depots where they replaced the last of the former Great Western pannier steam locomotives.

Whilst it never worked to Ongar in London Transport days it is an important representative of London Transport traction from the 1970s so it is appropriate that the privately owned locomotive has found a home on a former London Underground line.

Status: Undergoing maintenance before entering service
