Ever thought how you could make a lasting contribution to the railway?

There are always many projects to fund on a heritage railway like ours. From restoring rolling stock to replacing the track, each task is a challenge, and many, like locomotive overhauls, require vast amounts of funding to complete.

Have you thought about supporting the restoration of one of our heritage items of rolling stock? We have a selection of both freight and passenger items, all requiring maintenance or restoration by our dedicated volunteers. These vehicles often require many hours of work and numerous replacement parts to return to their former glory, and each has played a key role in the history of railways and the transportation of passengers and goods.

Steam engines are also required to undergo a costly overhaul every 10 years, which ensures they are fit enough to continue hauling trains, as well as providing an opportunity to renew worn or life-expired parts. Diesel engines, on the other hand, have many complex components, equally as expensive and many unique. Your support helps to keep as many of these in service as possible.

Alternatively, donation boxes are situated at both Ongar and North Weald Stations, where visitors can place smaller donations towards our various projects. You can also donate by bank transfer - please contact us for details.
