Services Suspended until 2 December4th November 2020

Following the Government's announcement on 31 October regarding new Covid-19 restrictions, the Epping Ongar Railway will close to the public until 2 December.

Unfortunately this will impact the start of our popular Epping Ongar Light Fantastic trains and our planned Santa Special services. The Railway can confirm that these services will start from 3 December, and passengers booked on services before then will be contacted and offered the chance to amend their booking or accept a refund. Please be aware that Santa Special trains are currently fully booked.

Dean Walton, General Manager said, "We're sorry that passengers who have booked for the first of our magical Epping Ongar Light Fantastic trains and the first weekend of our Santa Special services won't be able to travel on their preferred date. Our volunteer team in our booking office will be contacting affected customers over the next few days. We thank you for your patience and for your support to the Railway."

Please note that during this period the Railway's stations are closed to the public. There is no public access and the appropriate security measures are in place. Train movements may also take place along the whole length of the line at any time.

Whilst the Railway is closed to the public our staff and team of volunteers will be busy preparing the Railway and its trains for the festive season and we look forward to welcoming you all back when our heritage steam and diesel trains, and buses, are once again providing delight on the longest heritage railway in Essex and the closest to London.

In these very uncertain times for all, please look after yourself, your family and friends and stay safe. The Railway's £200,000 appeal is still open should you wish to support the work of our volunteers that has been affected by the loss of income due to restrictions that have applied this year.
