How much has Essex changed? A Penny Salon exhibition18th April 2019

How much has Essex changed? We set the Essex Monochrome Group, who specialise in black & white photography a challenge - to see if they could take a series of pictures of classic Essex scenes taken in the 1950s and 60s and re-create the same scenes as they are today.

Judge for yourself how much, or how little, these places have changed over the last sixty or more years, as we host the results in the Penny Salon Gallery at Ongar station. The exhibition, entitled Essex: Then and Now runs until the end of April. The Gallery is open whenever trains are running and entry is free.
