Spring Diesel Gala featuring 5002125, 26 and 27 April
The diesel fleet come to the fore for three Spring days of fantastic action over our challenging gradients!
The home fleet, including our shunting locomotives, along with some interesting visiting locomotives will be put through their paces over some of the most challenging gradients in preservation. We'll have British Railways blue liveried locomotives working with our blue and grey liveried coaching stock too!
Featuring visiting locomotives, class 50, 50021 "Rodney", and class 14, 9529, alongside the home fleet of locomotives.

As usual we will be running a 3 train intensive service throughout the weekend with evening Real Ale trains on Saturday - these are included in your great value fare!
You'll be able to see our blue locomotives hauling our rake of blue and grey coaching stock, travel on shuttle trains into Epping Forest and hear the locomotives working hard over our challenging gradients!
Vintage London buses will provide connections to Epping Underground station (Central Line, zone 6) with all our train services, with some bus services also operating to Shenfield station (for Greater Anglia and Elizabeth Line services).
On train bars
Our on train bars will be also be open, serving a selection of real ales, as well as a range of wines, lagers and soft drinks, and, on the Saturday evening, we will be running our Real Ale Train.
The Real Ales available across both main train sets at various points during the event will be updated here closer to the event.
Saturday Evening Real Ale Train and Fish and Chip supper
Services on the Saturday will run into the evening with our popular Real Ale Trains. Diesel Gala All Day Rover tickets are valid on the evening services.
Cab rides and Brake Van Rides
For those who would like to see the line from the unique vantage point of a loco cab, then we will be offering our popular cab rides; we also be offering brake van rides and a chance to drive one of our shunting locomotives within station limits at North Weald. (An additional fare applies for cab rides, brake van rides and driver experience).
Tickets for these can't be pre-booked but will be available on a first come first served basis on the day from the ticket office at North Weald, or, for cab rides, by speaking to the driver of your chosen cab ride locomotive.
LNER Café at North Weald and the Buffet Stop at Ongar
Our catering outlets will be open all day. Hot snacks and other light refreshments and hot and cold drinks are available at the LNER Café at North Weald, including breakfast rolls until 11.30; the Buffet Stop at Ongar will be offering hot and cold drinks and other light refreshments.
Timetable
Our usual intensive service will see departures every 50 minutes for the main service with additional shuttle trains to Epping Forest.
A connecting vintage London bus service will provide connections to Epping Underground station (on the Central Line in zone 6) all day long and connecting with all our heritage trains, with some buses also serving Shenfield station.

Locomotives will need to work hard over our challenging gradients which are some of the steepest in preservation!
The Penny Salon Gallery at Ongar station
The Penny Salon gallery at Ongar station will be open and will be showing a topical photographic exhibition.
Admission to the gallery located in the former Ladies waiting room is free. Why not take a look during your visit?
Getting to us
There is limited parking at our stations. Passengers can use the public car parks in Ongar which are a short walk away from the station, or use our vintage London bus service which will provide connections with all our train services to Epping Underground station (Central Line and in zone 6). Some buses will also run to Shenfield station for connections with Elizabeth Line and Greater Anglia services.
