Autumn Diesel Gala25, 26 September

Join us for 37029's 60th Birthday bash!

Class 37 diesel locomotive 37029

The diesel fleet comes to the fore for a weekend of action over some of the steepest gradients in preservation.

  • Class 37, D6729 (37029), alongside
  • Class 03 D.2170 making its gala debut in British Railways green livery
  • Class 20, 20227 "Sherlock Holmes" in London Transport livery
  • Class 47, 47635 "Jimmy Milne" paired with a rake of blue and grey coaching stock
  • Class 14, D9551, courtesy of the SVR Class 14 Company Ltd.

Possibly the last appearance of D6729 (37029) in its current guise, before it has a well earned makeover as a 60th birthday present!

Our usual intensive 3 train service to be in operation, along with brake van rides and, and driver for a fiver with D.2170

The home fleet of D.2170, 37029 and 47635 are all expected to feature, alongside visiting locomotives 20227  and D9551 and our diesel multiple unit. 31438 is not planned to work at this event but will be spare/standby locomotive.

D6729 (37029) entered traffic on 3 October 1961, so the locomotive is celebrating its 60th birthday a few days early!
