5,000th Visitor Set to Come to the Penny Salon

It is expected that the 5,000th visitor will come to the Epping Ongar Railway’s Photo Gallery, The Penny Salon, on Saturday 13 October. The present exhibition, which was opened by the Railway’s General Manager, Dean Walton, on 6 October and features a special exhibition under the title of “The Night Comes On”. This special exhibition comprises black and white photographs by Geoff Silcock, who took them over a photographic career spanning five decades. Geoff Silcock and Malcolm Batten opened the gallery in 2017 and it has grown since then.

Dean Walton, General Manager said, “The Penny Salon is a fantastic, moving dynamic showcase of Railway photography that is always a delight to visit. We are all very proud of the work that Geoff and Malcolm have put into this, none more so than our passengers who spend hours in the gallery every operating day.”

Dean Walton, continued “The Railway will present a special prize to the 5,000th guest on Saturday but of course to have a chance of winning the prize you will need to come to the gallery.”

The Penny Salon is open whenever the Railway is running trains.
